Troubleshooting Common Issues with Aluminum Can Lids

Most of the time opening these cans can be simple, but sometimes those lids just stop playing nice. But again, that is such a pain in the butt to do especially when you are ready to eat but also very hungry. But on the bright side, most of them are easy to fix your troubles with aluminum can lids. In this article, we will see how to remedy these problems step by step for you not too long from now eat well without any frustration.

How to Open a Can?

To begin, we will teach you how to open a can with your favorite food. You will need a can opener to open the cans. This method won't work with cans that have pull tabs where you simply need to pull on the favour and they will open without a can opener. Btw- If your can does not come with a pull tab then you will be needing the actual Can Opener. Align the can opener with this groove when you put it on the lid. Really narrow groove area where can opener is to sit. This is actually good as there are no tend to have a single move can opener because once it has been set up you just press the spindle into place and rotate all around in until you go right through your camp. Continue twisting the can opener until it completes a full rotation around the lid.

Finally, remove the lid carefully from can and dispose in trash. The beverage can lid should be handled with care, the seal edges are sharp and will cut your fingers if you run them along it. Always handle the lid with care.

What to Do if a Lid is Stuck?

What about that can lid which simply will not come off, no matter how hard you try? It can be so frustrating, and make you feel like you may never eat again. So this is a problem, right. You can try this by tapping the edge of the lid (where it meets with container) with something like a spoon, or even using a knife. Lightly tap and go all around the rim to aid it in coming out. And even if you fail at that one it’s a can. just cut around the edge of it. Be careful not to cut too far down the can or you will end up spilling some of that food inside.

Test the cut all around, you will be able to get it easily out. If it doesn't, you will probably have to tap or cut some more. Just remember to be patient, because there are times when it requires a bit more effort.

Fixing Bent or Warped Lids

There are moments where if you take the lid of a can it might twist or bend. Making the more tricky step to be sealing up the can again after using leftovers for storage later. If it is appearing like a bent lid, you can take pliers and just work the edges to straighten them up. But don't press it too hard, lest you break the lid.

The other quite frequent case is when the lid does not latch tightly but rather falls off on his own. This means there may be some food stuff on the lip of your can. Have a look on the edge, if you see any food or liquid there simply wipe it off with a clean cloth or paper towel rinsed in warm soapy water. When replacing the lid, doing this will allow it to fit more snugly.

What if the Can Leaks?

Have any of you opened up a can to find all the liquid had poured out everywhere, into your other food? This can get quite sloppy and wasteful, no one wants that. One way or another to avoid this, apparently you need the correct metal can lids by FRIEND for right can opening. There are lids that fit certain styles of cans, and if you attempt to use another lid, it may not work.

Another solution is to ensure you do not fill the can so much before putting on your lid. While not dangerous, an overloaded can will allow the lid to pass liquid and food when sealed. Before you snap it shut make sure to see how much of the food or liquid is in that can — messy spills, stings a little.
